Fosters community well-being, opportunities and equitable access for all ages, with programs and services catering to the needs of the senior community.
Abbotsford Community Services provides programs for seniors living in Abbotsford, such as:
  • Better at Home: Partnership with United Way, helps seniors continue to live independently by providing non-medical support services (housecleaning, transportation).
  • Income Tax & Benefit Applications: Trained volunteers assist with completion of Income Tax
  • Lunch with the Bunch: Food, fun and seniors - every Monday! Transportation can be provided if necessary
  • Meals on Wheels: Nutritious meals delivered 5 days a week to those experiencing difficulty shopping or preparing a meal (hot and/or frozen)
  • Medical Transportation: Volunteers drive individuals to medical appointments outside of the Abbotsford area (fees charged for mileage & parking).
  • Seniors Information, Referral and Resource Services: Community resources for seniors, including help with government forms
  • Community Van Service: The Community Van Service helps individuals and families without transportation attend appointments, commitments, services, and community activities, within the city of Abbotsford.
  • Social Prescribing Program: Social prescribing is an approach to offering non-medical support that enables older adults to identify, set and achieve personal health and wellness goals. A Community Connector helps to find appropriate local programs and services and provides regular check-ins to ensure participants are on track.
  • South Asian Day Program for Older Adults: The South Asian Day Program is for older adults who are: living at home; experiencing life changes; wanting to be as healthy and as independent as possible.
  • Stride for Older Workers: Offers support for older workers to achieve sustainable employment through skills training and employment supports. STRIDE is designed to help clients make informed career decisions and explore occupations best suited to their strengths, interests, and transferable skills.
