- The Infant/Child Development Consultant (ICDC): Infant/Child Development Consultants (ICDCs) are early intervention specialists who work alongside families of children with diverse abilities. They build safe, supportive relationships and help caregivers recognize their child’s strengths and areas of growth. Together with families, they identify priorities and embed developmental strategies into daily routines at home and in the community. By providing coaching, resources, and access to therapies when applicable, ICDCs empower parents and caregivers to foster their child’s social, emotional, and developmental skills, laying the foundation for healthy, resilient growth.
- CALM Early Care and Learning: The CALM Early Care and Learning Framework provides supports in the area of social and emotional well-being of young children (birth to age 8). It brings together brain science, research, and positive practices to help childcare providers, educators, parents, schools, and communities create positive, supportive environments where children can thrive. The program empowers parents and educators so that they can continue to develop safety and connection with children, especially during times of stress. It sets the foundation for lifelong social and emotional relational skills and fosters resiliency for children to cope with stress in the future.
- Occupational Therapy: The occupational Therapists serve children who have physical and/or developmental delays as a result of neurological, musculoskeletal and genetic disorders. The Occupational Therapist’s main concern is a child’s success in the areas of productivity, self-care, and leisure. They work to enhance a child’s independence with everyday skills such as feeding, dressing, eating, toileting, age-appropriate play skills, hand function, and sensory processing.
- Speech-Language Pathologists: Clinicians who help infants and preschool children communicate to the best of their ability at home and in the community. SLPs address communication skills which may be impacted by speech production difficulties, language difficulties (understanding, speaking, signing or other types of communication) or hearing disorders. Their goal is to help these children communicate to the best of their ability at home and in the community.
- Family Support Workers: Family support workers focus on enhancing the strengths and capacity of each family. They provide parent support, referrals, coordination, resources, information, and advocacy for families upon their request. They also collaborate with the child’s team within the centre and the community.
- Key Worker Program: Key Workers provide support and education to the family/caregiver of children/youth who have a diagnosis of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Disorder (FASD) or Complex Developmental Behavioural Condition (CDBC). Key Workers also provide education and support advocacy in schools and other community settings. Referrals can be made by parents/caregivers, physicians or other health care providers, educators or other community professionals with the consent of the parent/caregiver.
- Physical Therapy: Physiotherapists provide services to children with developmental delays and are available to help with concerns about movement and physical independence. The Physiotherapist will assess child’s physical abilities in skills such as rolling, sitting, crawling, walking, climbing, running, and jumping. In addition, physiotherapists can also provide intervention and strategies to support child’s development and growth.
- Assessment Clinic: Provides multidisciplinary team-based assessments for the diagnosis of Autism or complex developmental and behavioral disorder (such as Fetal Alcohol Spectrum), through a contract with the Provincial Health Services Authority. Privately funded assessments also available through this clinic which is located in Abbotsford.
- Family Enrichment Program: The Family Enrichment Program provides behavioural consulting and behavioural intervention services through a contract with the Children and Youth with Support Needs (CYSN) division of the Ministry of Children and Family Development. Referrals are received from CYSN Social Workers. Our team consists of Behaviour Consultant, Behaviour Interventionist, Family Support Worker and consulting Occupational Therapist and Speech-Language Pathologist. Focussed services are provided over a 6 month period of time.
