Stopping the Violence Program and SAFE HOME

Provided by Lillooet Friendship Centre Society

Stopping the Violence Program is closely connected to the Victims Assistance Program and provides confidential and free individual and group counselling to women who are, or who have experienced relationship abuse, sexual assault, or physical, emotional or sexual abuse at any age.
Stopping the Violence Program offers:
  • Counselling Supports in a culturally diverse environment
  • Referrals to other social, legal and health agencies
  • Safe service delivery, i.e. will meet in a safe location that suits the client
  • Crisis Intervention Activities and Safety Planning
  • Information and support while in the decision-making process
  • Women’s Group Counselling Sessions
  • Informed activities and events that support raising community awareness around the need to address domestic violence and abuse

SAFE HOME PROGRAM is closely linked to both the VAP and STV programs, while also offering the following:
  • A CONFIDENTIAL SAFE PLACE TO STAY for women and children in emergency situations, i.e. fleeing an abusive relationship
  • Safety Planning activities; guidance and support, transportation to safety
  • Referrals to Transition Houses and Women’s Centres for longer-term stays
  • Counselling referrals to other health and social agencies for long-term supports such as income benefits and counselling
