Food, Seniors Services, and Social / Recreational

- Abbotsford Aging At Home: Offers services to help low-income seniors maintain independence and live comfortably in their own homes. Examples of services include deliveries (groceries & prescriptions), snow removal, programs for the South Asian community, light house keeping, yard work, and socialization.
- Friendly Visitor Program: The Friendly Visiting Program focus is on social support for seniors who have little or no support such as seniors, who are isolated, depressed, and/or who lack family and social connections. The arrival of, or phone call from a Friendly Visitor lifts the spirits of the senior as they know they have a lifeline. This includes when they are in the hospital or otherwise experiencing health challenges. Seniors can be referred to this program.
- Tech Savvy Seniors: A free program that offers help to older adults 55+ increase their digital literacy skills. This program offers patient guidance, simple explanations, hands-on practice using spart phones, social media, or online services. Tech Savvy Seniors meets twice per week at the Matsqui Recreation Centre on Mondays and Wednesdays between 10am to 12pm.
- Crafts and Chats: The get-togethers take place every Monday from 10am to 11:30am at the Matsqui Recreation Centre (MRC) and include refreshments, crafts, music, games, and tech support. The purpose is to give seniors (and their caregivers, if interested) an opportunity to visit, meet new people, participate in activities, and socialize in a safe environment. The group will also try to provide transportation for individuals if needed.
- Seniors Social Cafe: The Seniors Social Café meets every Thursday from 10am to 12pm at the Matsqui Recreation Centre (MRC) and include refreshments, crafts, music, and games. The purpose is to give seniors (and their caregivers, if interested) an opportunity to visit, meet new people, participate in activities, and socialize in a safe environment. The group will also try to provide transportation for individuals if needed.
- Information & Income Tax Services: Provides information about senior services available in Abbotsford and Income Tax help.
- Life Box: Lifebox is a toolbox that can be used for you and your loved ones in case of an emergency or death. This program allows individuals to keep all essential documents in one safe place, simplifying the process of organizing relevant documents and bringing peace of mind through a stressful time.
- The Book Bags: A free community book and puzzle-sharing service in the Fraser Valley for seniors and the homebound.
