Violence Against Women Intervention & Support Services - Kamloops

A variety of programs that support women and families with safety, stability, and empathetic guidance during difficult times.
YMCA BC’s Women’s Safety & Support known as VAWISS provides free, confidential, and trauma-informed services for self-identifying women, children, and youth impacted by violence. The following programs are offered:
  • Stopping the Violence Outreach: A free and confidential mobile program that provides support to women who have experienced or who are currently experiencing intimate partner violence.
  • Y Women's Emergency Shelter: The Y Women's Emergency Shelter is a transition house that provides that provides temporary safe housing and support for women with or without children fleeing violence in the home. 24 hour phone support available.
  • Housing Outreach Services: A free and confidential mobile program that provides possible rental subsidies and housing-specific support for women who have experienced intimate partner violence.
  • PEACE Counselling Program: Provides free and confidential support to children and youth aged 3 to 18 who have experienced domestic violence.

Services are currently offered in Kamloops and surrounding areas. Y Membership is not required to access these services.
