Adult Substance Use: This program offers one-on-one counselling, group sessions, and drop-in support for individuals who are using substances or are affected by the substance use of a family member or loved one. This service is open to anyone needing information or seeking a safe space to explore options. The worker conducts screening and assessment, treatment plans, referrals, and prevention support. The program works within a harm-reduction approach, working without judgment to support individuals wherever they are in their journey. They treat the whole person, addressing physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being.
Youth Substance Use: This outreach service is provided for anyone aged 12 – 24 who is experiencing substance use issues or affected by someone else’s substance use. The program offers screenings to identify needs, creates personalized support plans, and connects them with local resources that can help. The approach focuses on safety and well-being, ensuring young people have the support they need wherever they are on their journey.
Mental Health Substance Use Program: Cedar Strong provides two programs that support mental health and substance abuse challenges:
Substance Use Prevention and Health Program: This School-Based Program is designed to assist school personnel, youth, and their families with issues regarding drug prevention and intervention. The program provides primary prevention, early intervention, and community development to reduce the incidence of alcohol and drug problems within the school community and the community at large. The program provides: Direct-Study program for students who have been identified with a substance abuse issue, support groups dealing with life skills, problem solving, coping mechanisms, family and peer relationships, education and awareness regarding substance abuse, assistance in the development of school health policies and health initiatives regarding drug and alcohol use and classroom presentations specifically related to the topics of drug and alcohol prevention with the promotion of healthy alternatives. Referrals to youth and their family for further support.
