- 1st Step Counselling Services: Provides one-on-one counselling to eligible youth who are affected by substance misuse in the following communities: Kamloops, Chase, Merritt, Logan Lake, Lytton, Lillooet, and Ashcroft/Cache Creek. Group counselling services are available for eligible residents in Williams Lake and 100 Mile House. Family counselling services are available to families and family members of youth who are substance misuse affected. Also, offers a harm reduction approach to ‘meet referred individuals where they are at in their readiness for change and assist participants to self-identify goals and develop individualized care plans
- 1st Step Outreach Services: Aid in assisting eligible youth and their families who are experiencing challenges with substance use. Service works towards reducing the physical, social, and economic harm that is associated with substance use and works with youth to secure housing, food security, crisis intervention, safety planning, cultural opportunities, and community referrals.
- Workshops / Groups: The 1st Step Mobile Treatment Program consists of a week-long substance use and life skills education program, youth drop-in workshops, and community presentations.
- Week-long group counselling is available in 100 Mile House and Williams Lake
- Youth drop-in workshops are offered in all communities visited by the program
- The program is at no cost to the communities served
- Facilitated by a professional Substance Use Counsellor and/or Youth Outreach Worker
- Various topics are addressed depending on the needs of the group including (but not limited to) substance use, boundaries, self-esteem, communication strategies, and wellness
- Includes follow-up contact the week after the program has commenced
- Community-Based Withdrawal Management Program: Provides a holistic first step toward substance use recovery. Offered to adults in two locations: Williams Lake and Castlegar BC, this program utilizes a person-centred approach to meet the specific needs of each patient in a safe, caring, culturally relevant, and non-judgmental environment. Persons served are referred to the program by a Physician or Nurse Practitioner within the Interior Health Authority region. Included in the referral is a medical assessment to determine physical and psychiatric suitability for the program.
